White Saddle
As a child in the 6th grade, my teacher read this book to her class. To this day, 30 plus years later, I remember the gentle spirit of White Saddle and the many adventures. I look forward to sharing this book with my granddaughter.

White Saddle
This book is wonderful. Having had it read to me as a child, it has remained a favorite for my sibling and children for years.

White saddle
A lovely old pony whispers her life story to children asleep beneath an apple tree and what a tale it is. Made even more special because White Saddle was a real pony. Your children will fall in love with "White Saddle" subtle lessons and real excitement with a heart warming ending.

White Song: Poems by Susan Maeder
Beautifully written soul satisfying piece of work. Many of her poems brought me home to myself. I thank her for that.

white song : poems
It is a beautifully written book. It touched my heart. The author gives insight on the surrounding world, which transcend into my thoughts and feelings.

A real, full challenge that is not above your head.
Susan Maeder is a woman with a solid voice in womanhood. Her song is rich, full and white. Her shadows engaging. This poetry is not above the head. It is in the flow between us; it is in the feel of our rooting. Take it for yourself.

The white spider : the story of the north face of the Eiger
Published in Unknown Binding by Hart-Davis ()
Author: Heinrich Harrer
Average review score:

A classic mountaineering account
Recently I had the opportunity to travel to the Eiger's North face. While in Grindelwald, I came across a copy of "The White Spider" and simply had to pick it up. Harrer's sensitivity toward the mountains that were his life and to his peers is unparalled. This sensitivity is intertwined throughout the book in not only his own first ascent of the face, but the subsequent successes and tragedies that occurred there. An incredible, heartfelt and wonderfully written book made even more fantastic when you can witness where it all took place.

Inspirational- one of the best books of the century
I read this book 28 year ago. I have since been to the N. face of the Eiger to look at it and reflect on this book. It is a great book involving the will of man and his determination to overcome obstacles. Over my life time, when I have thought that things were going rough, I have thought of this book and the story of these men. I am now looking for a copy of this book and have an open order with Amazon. I highly recommend this book to all parents of teen age children. It will be well worth reading to all of you. The specific situation is less relevant than the more global significance of the lessons of commitment, loyalty and endurance.

The classic chronicle of a mountain
I find it hard to believe this book is out of print considering Harrer's coming back into the vogue with "Seven Years in Tibet" on film. So many people are reading "Into Thin Air" and the latest mountain climbing spectaculars. I urge you to go back to the basics and read this book which is the best of them all. "Harrowing" best describes this history of the North Wall of the Eiger.

White Squaw: The True Story of Jennie Wiley
Published in Paperback by Jesse Stuart Foundation (01 September, 2000)
Authors: Arville Wheeler and Ture Bengtz
Average review score:

I finally find a book about one of my direct descendents!
Jennie Wiley is a direct descendent of mine through Hezekiah Sellards and I have heard stories told about her. However, I never thought there was a book about her. Although I have not purchased the book yet I still rate it a 5 for obvious reasons.

Family history
I have a copy of this book that is copied off an old copy machine. I was so happy to find copies of the real book. I am also a very distant relative of Jenny Wiley. It will be great to pass these books on to family members. What a great find.

Taken Back In Time
It has been quite a few years since I read this book. My grandmother owned it. I thought it was a very good book. It hit close to home to me, because Jennie Wiley is my seventh great-grandmother. Reading this book brought me close to my family history. I was able to learn more about how life was back then and the things that happened. I plan to buy my own copy, so that I can share the story with my children.

The White Stallion
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books (August, 1989)
Author: Elizabeth Shub
Average review score:

Easy to read and good!
I look forward to reading this book every year because the children always love it so. It is a sweet, simple, and yet engrossing tale of a little girl who lived many years ago. She was going out West with her family on a wagon train, when she is separated from them with only her horse, Anna, for company. Anna wants to go off with a white stallion and his wild mares, but she is torn between her desire for freedom and her loyalty to the Gretchen. The white stallion ends up saving the girl's life, and she is happily reunited with her family.

The White Stallion is just right for 7-9 year olds who want something longer than a picture book that is still easy to read. They will also like learning a little about wagon trains and the love between a girl and her horse. It is well-written and illustrated, and I happily recommend it.

history
a wonderful book, when you read it you know it must be true because of it being so unusual. I wonder if anyone out there has any historical information on this horse, because somewhere I read about this amazing horse in history in the Nebraska, Utah early days, he was talked about by the oldtimers, almost mythical, the stories were passed around the territory, by native americans, settlers . thank you

A wonderful pioneer story for children
This book brings back so many memories. When I was a girl, my mother bought this book for me. It's about a girl, Rachel, who gets separated from her wagon train on her horse. Her horse wanders into the woods, with the sleeping girl on her back. The girl is very afraid, but a white stallion appears and leads them back. It is really a magical story, intricately illustrated. I highly recommend it for everyone.

White Stone
Published in Paperback by James Corbett (2001)
Author: Jim Corbett
Average review score:

The most captivating and inspirational novel I've ever read.
This novel truly touched my heart and changed my life forever. A powerful story that reveals the awesome power of our living God, through people who have surrendered their lives to him.
It's very suspenseful and fun to read. I had a hard time putting it down. At the beginning of each chapter, I loved reading and was greatly inspired by the prophetic words from "From Our Father's Heart". A very well written novel.
I feel that the novel is truly anoited by God and felt a powerful presence of the Holy Spirt while reading it.

An applicable novel that will change your life!
I have never read a novel that was so applicable to our Christian walk. This book makes you look at how much of our Christian walk is "man-made" as opposed to "Holy Spirit" made! Awesome! It has changed the way that I view my relationship with Christ. Our teacher has got to be Jesus!

This book will change your life forever!
This book made me laugh, cry, gasp and repent. If you have ever wondered what God's will for your life is, this is the book to read. Take it seriously and it will change your life, forever!

Simply fantastic!
It is so rare that I find a book that takes my breath away, but this did it. After reading "Red, White and Blood" part of the bookI was stunned by its power and rushed to order the book. The rest of the book did not disappoint.

A SLUG IN THE GUT POETRY!
Marvin writes hard and scores again! This book is not for the faint at heart!

What?
This is a book of poetry! Some people need to read before they write a review.

A White-Collar Profession: African American Certified Public Accountants since 1921
Published in Paperback by Univ of North Carolina Pr (27 May, 2002)
Author: Theresa A. Hammond
Average review score:

Inspiring, Exhilarating Yet Heartrending
From my vantage point as a black CPA, this book is at once inspiring and uplifting yet heartrending and depressing. After having read about the trials and tribulations of the pioneers of my profession and of my race(who were/are heroic in some sense), I feel compelled to take advantage of today's opportunity out of respect for what they've done to pave the way for those who have followed.

The author does a fantastic job of taking an erstwhile research paper and making it extremely enjoyable to read. This book is must reading for CPAs in general and black CPAs in particular.

Important, Moving, and Entertaining
Hammond chronicles the stories of the remarkable individuals who blazed the trail for African-Americans in the accounting profession. Or I should say, began blazing the trail, because as Hammond points out it is still by far the most segregated profession. When most people hear "accounting" they think of something very dry and technical. But this book is far from that. You learn about the profession and how institutional racism operates, but always as a context for the amazing stories, struggles, and personalities that Hammond conveys. She obviously spent many hours interviewing these pioneers and she tells their stories with academic rigor, but also with compassion, respect, and a sense of humor.

Super Duper!
Ok, so maybe I haven't read the book, but since I doubt this is going to break best seller records, I figured I could give some information about the author.

She was my accounting professor last semester in a class called Accounting Information Systems. Theresa is funny, engaging and most importantly a very passionate individual, especially about the struggle for racial equality.

She is undoubtedly the first person to do any research on the subject, and in her powerpoint presentation of the book she unravels an interesting tale of the business world's most caucasian profession. The African americans which are the subject of her narrative show themselves are driven by their interest in this niche profession long after all hope has vanished. The quirky personalities of her story tell a story that sheds light upon the grit of the human spirit.

White-Tailed Deer: Ecology and Management
Published in Hardcover by Stackpole Books (October, 1984)
Author: Lowell K. Halls
Average review score:

A Serious Book for Serious White-Tailed Deer People
I break my deer books into two categories: reference(the Hall text) and "how to"(Grow 'Em Right) by Dougherty and Dougherty. The Doughertys tell you how to create great deer hunting with habitat and food plots while Hall tells you why you should have good habitat. Both books belong on the serious deer enthusiast's book shelf.
Hall's book is a compilation of articles by some of the nation's leading deer experts. The chapters are both interesting and informative. They provide the necessary background you need to better understand the white-tailed deer,it's habitat and its behavior. It's a must own for professionals and serious lay persons alike.

BOOK CONTAINS EXCELLENT INFORMATION
WHETHER YOU ARE A BEGINNER OR AN EXPERT HUNTER OR JUST A WILDLIFE ENTHUSIAST EVERYONE CAN OBTAIN USEFUL INFORMATION FROM THIS BOOK. ONE OF THE BEST THAT I HAVE READ ON THE SUBJECT .

White-Tailed Deer Ecology and Management
This book is very thorough and written for the professional wildlife manager, yet would be useful to a White-tailed deer lover also.

Whitetail the Ultimate Challenge: The Ultimate Challenge
Published in Paperback by Krause Publications (June, 1995)
Author: Charles J. Alsheimer
Average review score:

Another Hit For Alsheimer
Charlie Alshemer just keeps on cranking out great books and this one is no exception. I thought I owned all of his books but somehow I missed this one. What a pleasant surprise when I found it. I was not dissapointed when I read it.

It contains page after page of insights on deer behavior and tips on how to hunt them. Every time I read an Alsheimer book I become a better hunter.

I have also read books like Steve Chapman's and "Grow "Em Right" by Dougherty and Dougherty. They feature Alsheimer photos and the forewards are written by him and are both terrific books. One is philosophy(Chapman's) the other is on how to create wildlife habitat and food plots(Dougherty&Dougherty). Anything Alsheimer touches is great in my book.

Great insights.
I've been fortunate to hunt everything from grizzly bears to whitetail deer and find the whitetail to be the most challenging animal to come up against yet. Charles Alsheimer shares his keen insights into the whitetail deer in an easy to understand manner that goes beyond the rehash we read so much of in todays writings.
I have not tried "white lightning" yet but I may. "Whitetails by the Moon" is fantastic.
Good stuff Charles, keep it coming.

Another great book from Alsheimer
This is a fantastic read if you are looking for practical and advanced info from one source. This book covers just about everything the average deer hunter (and advanced) would want or need to know. Charles' knowledge of the whitetail is truly astounding. Get this book and take a look at Whitetail: Behavior through the seasons. Behavior has some of the best photography I have ever seen on the magnificent whitetail.
